About
The Estonian Literary Museum is a national research institution dedicated to the collection, preservation, and study of Estonian cultural heritage. Its activities focus on folklore, ethnology, literary studies, and cultural history, but through local and EU‑funded projects, it has also gained extensive experience in multi‑ and transdisciplinary work. This includes digital humanities methods, ethnographic fieldwork, and research on contemporary worldviews, rituals, and mental maps related to healthcare, technology, art, and agriculture, as well as innovative multisensory formats such as dialogical exhibitions, creative workshops, novel music teaching methods, and poetry events in minority languages.
The museum includes several archives and research departments, among them the Estonian Folklore Archive, which preserves extensive collections of oral traditions, music, and narratives.
The institution supports research, documentation, and dissemination of cultural heritage and contributes to both national and international scholarly cooperation.
