Research Centre Future-Driven Education @Karel de Grote University of Applied Sciences and Arts

Karel de Grote University of Applied Sciences and Arts (KdG) is one the largest universities of applied sciences and arts in Flanders, Belgium, with 7 campuses in Antwerp and more than 14.000 students. KdG strives to incite intercultural dialogue and awareness, both within its curricula, its student body and many of the research projects it undertakes.

The Karel de Grote University of Applied Sciences and Arts also wants to play a European and international role and offers all of its students and staff a powerful, internationally oriented learning and working environment. Therefore, it continuously strives for excellence in being a valuable partner in student and staff mobility and in international (research) projects. Karel de Grote University of Applied Arts and Sciences is holder of an Erasmus University Charter awarded by the European Commission. KdG offers services such as research, education, coaching and consultancy for our external partners.

Because social relevance is one of our cornerstones and because the work field keeps its students and researchers with both feet firmly anchored in society, KdG conducts socially relevant scientific research and publishes its results by means of printed media, on study days, in study programmes and via education. KdG Research has the following flagship centres of research: (1) Sustainable Industry, (2) Social Inclusion, (3) Future-Driven Education, (4) Care in Connection, (5) Public Impact and (6) Pedagogy in Practice.

The Research Centre Future-Driven Education is a dynamic collective of 15 researchers, service providers and bridge-builders working closely with the teacher training institutes. Through research and services it contributes to quality, sustainable education. It has three main foci in its research and support: (1) authentic learning, (2) students’ support needs, and (3) sustainable careers and leadership.
