About

POLITO, founded in 1906 from the roots of the Technical School for Engineers created in 1859, has a long-standing tradition of leadership of polytechnic culture. It is one of the most important universities in Europe for engineering and architecture studies. With more than 463 bilateral international agreements and 130 double degree agreements, it has links with the most prestigious Universities in Europe and worldwide. It has a strong track record in EU-funded projects, with more than 600 approved projects across FP7, H2020, and Horizon Europe. It has also a strong experience in project coordination: Research, relations with industry and innovation Department has been involved in the management of EU RTD projects since 1995. POLITO has also a long expertise in the management of complex research projects funded by public and private bodies, ranging from projects funded by EU to projects funded by National and local governments, to projects funded and in cooperation with companies. Researchers from different Departments interact to aggregate skills and produce knowledge in so-called breakthrough technologies. Although POLITO is a technical university, it also pays particular attention to the social aspects and social impact of its research, thanks also to a dedicated PoliTO for Social Impact Center (POpS), not forgetting that from 2021 it is a NEB-New European Bauhaus Official Partner. Regarding the attendance at European Community level, POLITO has a Hub in Brussels, aimed at increasing the international visibility of the University. In 2013 the European Commission awarded to Politecnico the 'HR Excellence in Research' quality mark.
