About

A network of researchers from Friesland (Fryske Akademy) the Faroe Islands, Shetland Islands, and Friesland is seeking partners for a project idea targeting the call HORIZON-CL2-2027-01-HERITAGE-07. We are interested in research and strategic collaborative activities exploring the maritime historical, economic, cultural (heritage) and linguistic connections and exchange between coastal, island and rural communities in the North Sea & North Atlantic regions. We are interested in the old sea routes and new connections that influence heritage, belonging, language, identity and future perspectives of the people in the communities. The project shall discuss and examine cultural resilience, shared European values and the meaning of social interdependence and innovation. This will also help present and protect heritage in the future, and as such help societal resilience in Europe.

What we bring is the research background to these maritime topics, interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral experience and I bring expertise in coining this idea with partners. What we look for is partners with disciplinary and regional experience to connect with the overarching aims.
