Evidence Exchange and Policymaking

Associate Professor of Politics and Public Policy at Swansea University

Swansea, United Kingdom

About

As part of a wider university-level project on evidence in policymaking, Swansea University is looking at ways of involving a) academics more closely in the policy-making process; and b) embedding policymakers into the world of academic research, in order to create clearer and more meaningful connections between academic research and policy-making. It will work to develop professional development opportunities for civil servants and policy-makers through courses and training for making use of evidence, develop innovative methods for involving evidence in policy-making and co-creating policy through these methods, build sustained relationships between academics and policy-makers, and develop capacity in nations and regions for evidence-informed policy-making. The aim is to build on existing work at Swansea University on the use of evidence in policy-making, and to connect researchers within the university with potential consortia to develop larger-scale Horizon bids (or similar).
