Safeguarding Romani Linguistic Diversity in Europe
Secretary at Republic of Slovenia, Government Office for National Minorities
Ljubljana, Slovenia
About
The Government Office for National Minorities of the Republic of Slovenia seeks to join a Horizon Europe Cluster 2 proposal (HORIZON‑CL2‑2026‑01‑HERITAGE‑06) focusing on Romani linguistic diversity.
The project aims to preserve and strengthen Romani languages in Europe by recognising their plurality, levels of use, and protection across countries, and by increasing their visibility and policy relevance as part of Europe’s linguistic heritage.
Planned activities include a European overview and mapping of Romani languages, analysis of use and risks, comparison of national policy and education frameworks, and exploration of practical outputs such as digital resources or foundations for Romani language dictionaries.
As a public authority partner, we contribute policy expertise, stakeholder access, and experience in Roma inclusion, supporting strong research‑to‑policy uptake. The project would involve cultural heritage institutions, including the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum.
We are looking for a project coordinator or consortium, a strong SSH research partner, and partners with expertise in linguistics, digital heritage, and participatory approaches, to build a multidisciplinary, impact‑oriented Cluster 2 consortium.
