People with disabilities: labour inclusion past and present
Professor of History at Swansea University
Swansea, United Kingdom
About
I seek to explore opportunities for project cooperation relating to HORIZON-CL2-2027-01-TRANSFO-07, Persons with Disabilities: Opportunities for labour inclusion and social protection through the life course. The call focuses on research that addresses the disadvantages and barriers faced for increasing inclusion in the labour market for people with disabilities, in order to produce a better evidence base for policymakers and person-centred interventions. As a leader in the field of disability history and disability studies, I bring a unique historical perspective on disabled people's employment in the UK, including the development of policies, occupational patterns of inclusion/exclusion, and activism. Effective policy making is impossible without understanding the historical barriers affecting disabled people's employment, therefore I seek to bring my expertise to enhance a consortium interested in exploring multi-disciplinary approaches to disability inclusion.
