Pathways based on evidence to lifelong civic learning and democratic engagement

The project will investigate the effectiveness of different pedagogical models, learning environments, and policy frameworks in fostering civic competences, critical thinking, and trust in democratic institutions. Using mixed methods research, including cross-country analysis, experimental pilots, and participatory approaches,the project will examine how formal, non-formal, and informal learning contribute to active citizenship in diverse socio-economic contexts. Particular attention will be given to barriers faced by underrepresented groups and the role of digital and media literacy in navigating disinformation and enabling meaningful democratic participation.

The project aim will be to codesign and test innovative, research-informed educational interventions in collaboration with stakeholders, producing validated methodologies, datasets, and policy recommendations.
