Advancing research on citizenship education in Lifelong Learning for inclusive democratic participation

The project will generate new empirical evidence on the relationship between lifelong learning, civic knowledge, and active participation in democratic processes, including voting, public deliberation, and civil society engagement.Through comparative and interdisciplinary research, the project will analyse how different educational approaches: digital (civic technologies, media literacy tools) and non-digital ( community based and intergenerational learning)—affect citizens’ capacity to engage with democratic institutions. Special attention will be given to underrepresented and marginalised groups, including persons with disabilities and ageing populations, integrating a gender and intersectional perspective throughout.The project will design, test, and evaluate innovative curricula and pedagogical methods for VET and adult education, producing evidence based recommendations and validated tools for policymakers and educators.
