Looking for partners - project idea -> Emerging battery value chains for automotive industry
senior researcher at CELSI at Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI)
Bratislava, Slovakia
About
We aim to comprehensively map emerging value chains in batteries production in the automotive (and wider mobility sector), while analysing their regional and national impacts combining structural input-output analysis of batteries value chains with socio-economic impacts.
We aim to assesses the importance of this sector for local economies and production networks in the automotive industry, examine the labour market implications - such as workforce composition, working conditions, and employer strategies for workforce upgrading - and provide background information to support policy recommendations. We aim to focus on "automotive countries of CEE region, especially to Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary.
The recommendations are intended to enhance social partners’ influence on the labour market, improve working conditions, and foster the social upgrading of workers in a safe, green, and sustainable environment.
Methodologically, we aim to combine structural input-output model developed within DEEPLAB project (see: https://deeplab.celsi.sk/en/)) where we are able to identify future labour market demand for workers in battery value chains specifically, analysed in the context of production capacities of automotive producers. We have this model for Slovakia, but using Exiobase, this can be extended to selected counties of Europe.
