The Atlantic Sustainable Tourism Observatory Ireland www, storyatu.ie is an initiative focused on advancing sustainable tourism development across Ireland’s Atlantic coastal regions. Aligned with international best practices and sustainability frameworks, ASTOI serves as a hub for data collection, research, and stakeholder collaboration.
The observatory systematically monitors key sustainability indicators, including environmental impact, community well-being, cultural heritage preservation, and economic performance within the tourism sector. By providing reliable, real-time insights, ASTOI empowers policymakers, businesses, researchers, and local communities to make informed decisions that balance tourism growth with long-term sustainability.
ASTOI also plays a key role in fostering innovation and knowledge exchange. It facilitates partnerships across academia, industry, and public authorities, contributing to the development of sustainable tourism models that can be replicated across Europe and beyond. Through participation in international networks and research initiatives, ASTOI strengthens Ireland’s position as a leader in responsible and regenerative tourism.
At events such as the Net4Society matchmaking platform, ASTOI seeks to connect with partners for collaborative research, Horizon Europe projects, and cross-border initiatives focused on climate action, digital transformation, community engagement, and sustainable destination management.
