Estonian University of Life Sciences
About
Estonian University of Life Sciences is a public research university located in Tartu, Estonia. The Chair of Rural Building and Water Management conducts research, education and technical studies in building physics, structural engineering, building materials and sustainable construction.
Our construction science team has expertise in the physical and mechanical testing of timber, concrete, composite and natural building materials; hygrothermal performance of building envelopes and insulation materials; indoor climate measurements; thermography and airtightness testing; and technical condition assessment of existing buildings and structures.
We also conduct non-destructive assessment of existing timber structures, including moisture measurements and resistance micro-drilling, and laboratory and in-situ testing of structural elements.
We are interested in joining Horizon Europe consortia as a research, testing and technical validation partner. For HORIZON-NEB-2026-01-REGEN-02, we can contribute to building condition assessment, monitoring, validation of predictive maintenance and repair solutions, hygrothermal evaluation, assessment of timber and bio-based materials, and demonstration activities in a cold and humid climate.
We are also interested in circular construction, reuse of timber and construction materials, sustainable renovation, whole-life environmental performance and collaboration with building owners, municipalities and industry partners.
