Scaling Sustainable Public Building Renovation Across a Highly Fragmented Region

The South Moravian Energy Agency (JIMEG) is looking to join European consortia developing innovative approaches to the sustainable renovation and transformation of existing buildings and neighbourhoods.

South Moravia provides a unique real-life environment combining an extensive regional public-building portfolio with 678 municipalities, many of them small municipalities facing limited financial, technical and administrative capacity.

JIMEG is interested in projects addressing the intersection of:

• building renovation and decarbonisation,

• sustainable maintenance and renovation,

• life-cycle carbon and circularity,

• energy performance and thermal comfort,

• investment prioritisation,

• innovative financing,

• renovation of public and community buildings,

• accessible solutions for small municipalities,

• participatory approaches and stakeholder engagement,

• replication and regional scaling.

Our contribution

We can provide access to public-building owners, municipal stakeholders and potential pilot sites and can support:

• real-life demonstrations;

• co-creation with public authorities;

• assessment of implementation barriers;

• business and financing models;

• aggregation of renovation demand;

• validation of tools and methodologies;

• replication across different types of municipalities;

• regional dissemination and market uptake.

Our ambition is to test whether innovative solutions can move from individual demonstration buildings to a scalable regional renovation model.
