About

Phyta Biodesign is a London-based biodesign studio on a mission to rewild the built environment. We sit at the intersection of ecology, computational design, and advanced digital fabrication. Bridging disciplines that have never spoken to one another to solve one of the most urgent challenges of our time: the collapse of urban biodiversity.

As cities expand, they erase the habitats that species depend on, replacing living ecosystems with steel, glass, and concrete. We believe the built environment doesn't have to be the problem, it can be an active part of the solution. Our approach transforms inert building facades into precision-engineered, data-driven habitats that invite nature back into cities. Every system we design is site-specific, species-centric, and architecturally integrated, moving far beyond the generic, one-size-fits-all thinking that has defined habitat conservation until now.

We use ecological data to drive form. We use digital fabrication to make it buildable. And we use bio-based materials such as clay and mycelium to ensure every intervention is circular by design. The result is a new category of architecture: one that doesn't simply sit alongside nature, but actively participates in it.
