The BIOPOLUS Institute is a privately owned nonprofit R&D organization based in Budapest, Hungary. The Institute develops integrated nature-based solutions and urban circularity systems that support the creation of beautiful, sustainable, and climate-resilient cities. BIOPOLUS combines ecological design, biological engineering, and circular resource management to transform urban environments into healthier, more regenerative, and people-centred places.

BIOPOLUS has developed a portfolio of proprietary solutions addressing key urban and environmental challenges. These include the BIOPOLUS Floating Platform, a modular blue-green infrastructure that restores degraded urban waterways while enhancing biodiversity, water quality, and public space; BIOPOLUS FLOREST, a soil-centred nature-based solution that combines dense afforestation, bioretention, and pollinator-supporting habitats to improve climate resilience, ecosystem health, and local food security; and the BIOPOLUS Biomakery, a water-centred urban circularity platform that recovers valuable resources from wastewater and organic waste streams while supporting regenerative resource management.

Through these solutions, BIOPOLUS contributes to urban regeneration, climate adaptation, biodiversity restoration, and circular resource use, helping communities create more attractive, inclusive, and resilient living environments. The Institute works closely with municipalities, research organisations, designers, and industry partners across Europe to develop and demonstrate innovative solutions aligned with the NEB values of sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion.
