Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change, University of Graz

The Wegener Center unites climate, environmental, and socioeconomic research from the global to the regional level. We contribute to the understanding of climate and global change, the socioeconomic drivers and impacts of climate change and climate protection, and the transition to a low-carbon future. We are a key institute within the Climate Change profile area at the University of Graz, which we co-initiated and which comprises approximately twenty research groups from the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Moving from knowledge to action requires close collaboration between science and various societal stakeholders from businesses, associations, politics, administration, and civil society. Climate Change Graz relies on workshops, focus groups, living labs, and other participatory and transdisciplinary formats to jointly develop robust and application-oriented solutions.
