Memento mortis

Memento Mortis is a cultural organisation based in Crete, Greece, working at the intersection of art, place and society. Through participatory artistic practices, storytelling, performance, audiovisual media and co-creation methodologies, the organisation develops projects that explore collective memory, community engagement and the relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit.

Memento Mortis views art not only as a form of expression but also as a tool for social participation, inclusion and the reimagining of places and communities. Its work combines artistic creation, education and public engagement through workshops, participatory performances, site-specific interventions and interdisciplinary cultural projects.

The organisation is particularly interested in place-based cultural practices, social and spatial transformation, collective imagination and the role of art in fostering more inclusive and meaningful relationships between people, communities and their environments.

Memento Mortis participates in European cooperation projects and seeks collaborations with cultural organisations, municipalities, researchers and social innovators working on participation, inclusion, community engagement and the transformation of shared spaces.
