ADXTUR - Agência para o Desenvolvimento Turístico das Aldeias do Xisto

ADXTUR is a territorial development agency based in central Portugal, working across the Pinhal Interior through the Aldeias do Xisto network and other place-based development initiatives. While deeply rooted in the valorisation of the Aldeias do Xisto, ADXTUR today plays a broader role in fostering sustainable territorial development, rural innovation and community-led transformation.

The organisation works with municipalities, local communities, SMEs, cultural actors, researchers and public institutions to design and implement projects focused on rural regeneration, heritage valorisation, craft and design, social innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability and digital transition.

ADXTUR operates in a low-density rural territory facing demographic, economic and environmental challenges, which makes it a relevant real-life environment for testing and scaling innovative, place-based solutions. This includes work related to sustainable housing, community resilience, circular local economies, cultural and creative industries, renewable energy communities, landscape regeneration, attraction and retention of people, and innovation anchored in local identity and resources.

Within the New European Bauhaus framework, ADXTUR is particularly interested in projects that connect beauty, sustainability and inclusion in rural contexts, combining design, culture, environmental transition and community participation. Through its territorial networks and local partnerships, ADXTUR can contribute to the co-design, piloting and demonstration of NEB-inspired solutions in rural Europe.
