About

NILU – The Climate and Environmental Research Institute, is a leading independent, non-profit research institute working at the intersection of environmental science, technology, and policy. Established in 1969, NILU conducts interdisciplinary research to support sustainable urban transitions, focusing on climate change, air quality, environmental health, and circular systems. The institute is at the forefront of monitoring and assessing nature-based solutions (NBS), citizen science, and participatory methods to improve urban resilience, public health, and environmental governance. NILU collaborates widely across Europe and globally, coordinating and contributing to Horizon Europe and DUT projects through evidence-based innovation, stakeholder engagement, and science-policy integration.
