About

The Cyprus Red Cross Society (CRCS) is the largest humanitarian non-governmental organisation in Cyprus, guided by a clear humanitarian mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering, protect life and health, and uphold human dignity without discrimination. Anchored in the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, CRCS combines a strong local presence with international reach and credibility.

With a nationwide structure comprising headquarters and active local branches, the Society mobilises a volunteer base of more than 1,500 trained volunteers, supported by specialised staff and governance bodies that ensure accountability, transparency, and strategic coherence. As a recognised member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, CRCS operates as an auxiliary to the public authorities in the humanitarian field, while maintaining independence in action and decision-making.

CRCS’s areas of expertise span emergency preparedness and response, health and social care, psychosocial support, First Aid education, youth engagement, and social inclusion. A cornerstone of its service provision is the Stella Soulioti Children’s Therapy Centre, a flagship initiative delivering multidisciplinary therapeutic care to children and young people with severe disabilities, and standing as a national reference point for inclusive, rights-based support.

Operating within a complex socio-political environment shaped by migration pressures, socio-economic inequalities, and regional instability, CRCS addresses urgent humanitarian needs through food assistance, emergency shelter, psychological crisis intervention, and community-based resilience programmes. The organisation places particular emphasis on supporting migrants, asylum seekers, and displaced populations, offering targeted assistance that promotes dignity, protection, and social integration.

Beyond its national mandate, CRCS actively contributes to international humanitarian action, including post-disaster recovery, health-system strengthening, and emergency relief operations, in close coordination with Movement partners. Through its integrated approach—linking preparedness, response, recovery, and advocacy—CRCS bridges local vulnerabilities with global solidarity, advancing humanitarian values, respect for international humanitarian law, and sustainable, people-centred solutions.
