Peri-urban Regions Platform Europe (PURPLE)

PURPLE is a European level network bringing together diverse actors with an interest in peri-urban locations across Europe and beyond. For us "peri-urban" is probably best captured by thinking about places where urban and rural features and characteristics co-exist and merge.

As a group of public authorities with a direct interest in the management and development of such locations and the activity that takes place within them, we are interested in the unique character of such places - both built environment and open landscape and how that is to be preserved, enhanced, restored etc.

As a platform PURPLE both involves itself directly in project work - both research and practice oriented- and supports and encourages others to do so.
