About
The Institute for Research on Technologies for Sustainability (ITPS), established in September 2023 at Rey Juan Carlos University, is a dynamic multidisciplinary research institute dedicated to advancing sustainability through science, technology, and innovation. ITPS addresses major environmental, social, and economic challenges by promoting the development of sustainable technologies, efficient use of renewable resources, circular materials, clean and renewable energy systems, and intelligent solutions for industry and society.
Situated on the Móstoles campus, ITPS brings together researchers, doctoral candidates, and technical staff from diverse scientific and engineering fields to deliver cutting-edge research with real societal impact. The institute’s work supports national and European sustainability strategies and contributes to multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including clean energy, responsible consumption, sustainable infrastructure, and climate action.
ITPS has quickly consolidated its position as a leading centre in sustainability research in Spain, managing a growing portfolio of competitive national and international projects and fostering training and collaboration opportunities across sectors. Its research spans energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies, circular economy approaches, sustainable materials and processes, and smart, low-emission systems for cities, industry, and infrastructure.
