Heat Shelter

Director Business Development at SPACECOOL

Germany

About

SPACECOOL is a passive daytime radiative cooling (PDRC) material which is able to cool surfaces in bright sunlight below ambient temperature. It can be used to easily create innovative heat shelters - either for temporary or for continuous use. We are looking for partners to create beautiful new solutions which protect citizens, especially vulnerable groups such as elderly or children.

SPACECOOL is unique, as it uses the PDRC principle in order to send back heat in form of infrared light to where it came from - to outer space. This not only allows to cool down below the temperature of the surrounding air, but also reduce the heat load to the surrounding and the atmosphere. It is a perfect means in order to avoid urban heat islands.

In form of a canvas it can be spanned over open spaces or between buildings but also be used to create innovative parasols or tent like structures. At the World Expo 2025 in Osaka it was used to create the amazing passively cooled tent like structure of the Japanese Industrial Gas Association, but also by the Japanese Red Cross as a tent like heat shelter.

Please take a look at our website or even better contact us in order learn more about our material and examples where it is already used
