About

This proposal outlines the creation of an organization that will serve as an innovation and R&D hub, dedicated to exploring ways to utilize textile waste the creative processes of Portuguese Heritage Arts & Crafts. We will combine cutting-edge sustainability practices with traditional craftsmanship to create a model for circular cultural production. We will discover ways to valorize textile waste to preserve the vanishing heritage arts, while at the same time, creatine a completely self sustaining facility that will encompass artist residencies, ecotourism with artisan workshops to transfer skills, and education programs. The site will also be built by Passive House standards for maximum efficiency of land and climate, showcase a community regenerative garden, pollinator field with bees, and area for sever endangered breeds of Portugues domestic animals.
