Accelerating the Digital Transformation of a Dutch Grid Operator with (Cross-Sectoral) solutions in the field of operations, data and asset management

About
Most of the electricity grid in the Netherlands was designed in a different era and our technology stack was optimised for predictable, centralised flows of energy. Today’s reality (with multiple fluctuating electricity sources such as wind ans solar power and an increased electricity demand) demands always-on, datadriven operations with high levels of efficiency, traceability and adaptability. In this context, Alliander Next Grid is looking for start-up and scale-up solutions, capable of accelerating the digital transformation of the DSO environment with AI solutions that can deliver tangible business impact.
We are also interested in solutions that have proven their value in other sectors and that could, with limited alterations, be applied within the context of Alliander being the largest Distribution System Operator (DSO) for the electricity and gas network in the Netherlands.
We are exploring the potential of solutions in the fields of:
-
Operations: solutions that help us
-
Train field technicians faster & smarter
-
Optimize resource planning to deploying staff and materials more efficiently
-
Apply image recognition to register logistics return flows (for example for example items like injection nipples, screw connectors, support sleeves etc.)
-
-
Data & AI capabilities: we are interested in solutions that
-
Standardize AI agents across the organization – How can we standardise AI agents within our existing tooling and make them reusable assets for multiple use cases
-
Improve data quality, enhancing the reliability, consistency, and traceability of operational data. Solutions may include innovative ways to detect and correct data issues in real time, improve data lineage and transparency, or enrich datasets with intelligent insights.
-
-
Asset management: solutions that strengthen
-
Asset intelligence, providing deeper insights into asset health and performance
-
Predictive maintenance, enabling proactive and efficient maintenance strategies
-
We are interested in approaches that are scalable, interoperable, and can integrate into complex infrastructure environments. Proposals must shortly specify in which sector and how the technology has been applied so far, what applicability to the context of a Distribution System Operator is envisioned, and, if necessary, how the solution could be adapted for application in a DSO context.
