Sustainability and Energy Innovation: Navigating Towards Green Ports

Director Consulting Services at CGI

Barcelona, Spain

About

The current context of global trade, combined with international requirements to reduce carbon emissions, is pushing shipping companies and ports to rethink their operations from an environmental perspective. The decarbonisation of maritime transport and port operations is emerging as one of the greatest challenges of the twenty-first century, requiring new technological solutions and more sustainable processes.

The challenge consists of integrating clean technologies, such as LNG, green hydrogen or electric power, into maritime and logistics processes; implementing environmental monitoring systems and circular-economy tools in the port environment; and preparing port operations to comply with more stringent future regulations, including the IMO’s 2030 and 2050 targets.

CGI is seeking solutions based on IoT, artificial intelligence, digital twins, predictive models, augmented reality or other technologies that can contribute to emissions reduction, energy efficiency and sustainability in port transport and logistics. Proposals must be focused on Spain and developed by companies with proven experience and mature or scalable solutions. Direct competitors or suppliers working for them will be excluded, except for standardised products that do not require the exchange of confidential information.
