The Institute's goal is to promote research and innovation in the area of production of subtropical and Mediterranean cultures, focusing on the quality and safety of fruit, as well as crop protection and sustainability. The institute works in two main areas:
- PLANT BREEDING AND PHYSIOLOGY: This area focuses on exploring and understanding the fundamental biological processes underlying the development, growth, and response of plants to changing environmental conditions in order to address current and future challenges in agriculture.
- CROP PROTECTION: This area focuses on the study of the various factors that affect crop health and performance, as well as the development of innovative strategies to protect them from diseases, pests, and other stressors.
