Research on renewable energy: Hydrogen technology and catalytic processes
Researcher at Universidad de Cádiz
Puerto Real, Cádiz, Spain
About
I am committed to seeking solutions to energy and environmental problems through international cooperation, human resources training, and scientific contributions. I am flexible, with extensive experience in mobility, adaptability to different working environments, and a career trajectory towards a clear leadership position. I have more than 10 years of experience in different fields of materials science, applications of hydrogen and energy technology, and capture-conversion CO2, demonstrated by my scientific contributions (h-index: 26 / citations>2000): 2 theses written (specialization and Ph.D.), more than 65 peer-reviewed publications in renowned journal ranked in the first (Q1), second (Q2) and third quartal (Q3) of impact factor (74 % of all papers in Q1), 6 granted patents, 1 technology transfer, 2 chapters in books and more than 40 participations in congresses. I have been training students through teaching and supervision at different stages. I have been involved in teaching activities for over 10 years, in various positions, including teaching assistant and lecturer roles in Argentina, Germany and now Spain. I have supervised and co-supervised students and post-docs in Argentina, Spain, and Germany. I have experience as a responsible researcher and collaborator in projects since developing my doctoral thesis. I was the principal investigator on 4 projects that were successfully evaluated within the Argentinean research system and under the European Union framework. I also contributed to the revision process for renowned peer-reviewed journals, served as a guest editor twice, and evaluated projects for various research institutions and universities (LE STUDIUM France/LCER CO Singapore/ANPCyT Argentina). I pursued my PhD in engineering sciences from 2007 to 2012 through grants from CONICET and DAAD–Argentinean Ministry of Education (ALEARG). I defended my PhD thesis on 14 March 2012 on hydride-forming materials for hydrogen storage at the Balseiro Institute, University of Cuyo, Argentina, and received an outstanding grade. After my PhD, I have held 9 postdoctoral positions at research centres in Argentina, Spain, and Germany, obtained through competitive evaluation processes within agencies and institutions offering various programs, including CONICET, the Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Foundation, and the EU-Marie Skłodowska-Curie-ACCIÓ program. I obtained two post-doctoral fellowships of renown and excellence. The AvH fellowship in the applied research modality (Georg Forster) was from 01/02/2017 to 30/04/2019 and focused on developing hydrogen storage tanks based on the hybrid gas-solid concept at the Institute for Materials Research, Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Germany, for which 3 patents were granted. The Marie Skłodowska-Curie contract under the ACCIÓ-TECNIOspring PLUS was a post-doctoral stay from 01/05/2019 to 31/05/2021 on the topic of 3D printing for green chemistry. There, a 3D-printed catalytic reactor was designed and successfully tested. From 01/06/2021 to 31/01/2026, I was the head of the laboratory in the Dept of Applied Materials Engineering at HSU Hamburg and, from 01/10/2023 to 31/01/2026, the deputy head of the Dept of Hydrogen Technology Applications and group leader for Hydrogen Stationary Applications. Since 01/02/2026, I have been in the Ramón y Cajal program, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science.
