About
Liberec is a city in northern Czechia, surrounded by the Jizera Mountains and located near the Polish and German borders, serving as the administrative and economic heart of the Liberec Region. The city has approximately 108,000 inhabitants. As the only Czech city selected for the EU Mission “100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030,” Liberec has committed to achieving climate neutrality through a comprehensive Climate City Contract and Action Plan. The city is focusing on renewable and community energy projects, including the development of a local energy community to support shared solar generation and greater energy self-sufficiency. In the field of sustainable mobility, Liberec is implementing measures to promote public transport, electromobility, and active travel. At the same time, the city is systematically implementing participatory governance into its decision-making processes, strengthening collaboration with citizens, businesses, and institutions to ensure an inclusive and transparent transition toward climate neutrality.
