A Social Enterprise for Recovery and Economic Inclusion

Programs Coordinator at Society for Family Health

Windhoek, Namibia

About

The Anchor Initiative (TAI) is a transformative social enterprise proposed to tackle Namibia’s interconnected challenges of substance abuse, unemployment, and social exclusion among adults (18+), with a special focus on youth aged 18–35 due to their heightened vulnerability to addiction and economic marginalisation. TAI is envisioned to integrate evidence-based rehabilitation, recovery support, vocational training, and business incubation to empower individuals to overcome addiction, acquire marketable skills, and achieve sustainable livelihoods. Aligning with Namibia’s Vision 2030, Harambee Prosperity Plan II, and Vocational Education and Training Act 1 of 2008, TAI will foster resilient communities and economic inclusion (Government of Namibia, 2021; Namibia Training Authority, 2024). Plans include expanding to adolescents (13–17) to prevent substance abuse and promote early skill development.
