About

1. Previous Experience in Project-Related Activities

You have over 14 years of experience in the management and coordination of international Research and Innovation (R&I) projects, with a focus on the Euro-Mediterranean region.

  • EU Framework Programs: Extensive track record in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects (e.g., SHERACA+, SHEMERA).

  • Regional Programs: Significant involvement in PRIMA (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) and ENI CBC Med programs.

  • Key Projects:

    • NEX-LABS & PHEMAC: Focused on the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus, open innovation, and the capitalization of research results.

    • LEAP-RE: Coordination of renewable energy research between Africa and Europe.

    • PPI4MED: Expert role in Public Procurement of Innovation and technology transfer.

  • Proposal Development: Proven success in designing and executing complex, multidisciplinary research projects involving large consortia (15+ countries).

  • National Roles: Served as a National Contact Point (NCP) for PRIMA and other EU initiatives, providing strategic guidance on EU funding.

2. Expertise for Potential Project Proposals

Your contribution to a consortium would be particularly valuable in the following areas:

  • Project Management & Coordination: Expert knowledge of EU administrative, financial, and reporting regulations (Horizon Europe).

  • Innovation Management & Technology Transfer: Bridging the gap between research and market-ready solutions, including IP management and exploitation strategies.

  • Science Diplomacy & Networking: Strong ability to connect EU partners with Egyptian and Mediterranean stakeholders (universities, SMEs, and policymakers).

  • Thematic Expertise:

    • WEF Nexus: Addressing interconnected challenges in water, energy, and food security.

    • Sustainability & Climate Adaptation: Aligning project goals with SDGs and EU Green Deal priorities.

  • Capacity Building: Experienced in delivering workshops on "Winning Proposal Writing" and navigating the Funding & Tenders Portal.

3. Type of Cooperation Seeking

Given your role as Deputy Director at ASRT and your current professional trajectory, you are likely looking for:

  • Consortium Partner: Joining high-impact proposals under EU Missions (specifically Soil Deal for Europe, Adaptation to Climate Change, and Restore our Ocean and Waters) where a Mediterranean or African partner is required.

  • Work Package Lead: Taking the lead on Dissemination, Exploitation, and Communication (D&E) or Management work packages.

  • Technology Transfer Hub: Acting as a bridge to facilitate the pilot-testing of European innovations in the Egyptian/MENA market.

  • Strategic Advisory: Providing expertise on Science Diplomacy and regional policy alignment for large-scale R&I initiatives.

  • Innovation Ecosystem Building: Seeking synergies between European Living Labs and Egyptian "Nexus-Driven Open Living Labs."
