About

Sheep Wool & Poultry Feathers Upcycling

Both sheep wool and poultry feathers are keratin-rich natural materials that are often discarded as waste. Upcycling them means converting this waste into high-value, sustainable products.

🧬 1.

Keratin Extraction

Both materials contain large amounts of keratin protein, but:

  • Wool keratin → soft, flexible, more similar to human keratin

  • Feather keratin (β-keratin) → harder, stronger, more rigid

Through chemical, enzymatic, or steam-based processes, they can be turned into:

  • Hydrolyzed keratin (for cosmetics)

  • Keratin peptides

  • Bio-polymers
