Piero Colosi

Our Aeolian adventures starts in the '70s, when the ancestor Pietro Colosi Senior buys the first plot of vineyards in Salina, a tiny island in the Aeolian archipelago and right here he decides to begin to cultivate the most representative species, the "Malvasia delle Lipari" known from ancient times as the "nectar of the gods". In the following years, with the generational shift, Piero Colosi decides to enhance his factory more and more buying other vineyards, restoring and adapting them to the modern viticulture in full respect of the Aeolian tradition.

Among these lands of volcanic origins rich in organic and mineral substances, in the evocative location of Capo Faro, stands the vinification cellar: completed in 2004, it is embedded in lava stone walls and rounded by the 12,5 hectares of terraced vineyards owned by our family. The different vines we cultivate on the island give birth to the Salina white, red and rosé, the dry Malvasia "Secca del Capo", to the Malvasia delle Lipari Doc and the cru of Nerello Mascalese 100%, "Guardiano del Faro".

In this tiny corner of paradise, driven by the love for the land and its fruits, we have been working for 40 years, arriving to the 4th generation with the oenologist Pietro Junior. Father and son confront their ideas and follow together all the oenological processes, from vinification to winemaking, mixing traditional and innovative ideas, aiming to obtain wines with strong personality, freshness, elegance and typical aromaticity. Together with Piero and Pietro, his sister Marianna and their mother Lidia follow the administrative branch of the company, maintaining an all-round family-run business.
