Zopanta Ltd is a Cyprus-based digital wellbeing company developing a mobile application and optional BLE-connected physical device designed to help people interrupt automatic doomscrolling and make more conscious decisions about their digital behaviour.
The problem we address is not simply excessive screen time. Social media use often becomes an automatic behavioural loop, where users open an app and begin scrolling before making a deliberate decision to do so.
Zopanta introduces a different approach. When a user attempts to access a selected social-media app, the app interrupts before the feed appears. In the device-assisted experience, the user completes a short physical interaction on the connected Zopanta device and only then makes a conscious choice whether to stop or continue for a limited period.
The device is not simply a key or unlock mechanism. The physical interaction itself is part of the intervention. Our current hypothesis is that repeatedly changing the usual sequence between opening social media and immediately scrolling may help weaken the automatic behavioural loop and create a more intentional digital habit.
Zopanta combines mobile software, Bluetooth Low Energy communication, embedded firmware, connected hardware and behavioural-intervention design.
The company is currently in the pre-seed, MVP development and validation stage. We have developed a working physical prototype and are building the integrated mobile experience. Historical early validation includes 646 survey submissions, 642 valid responses analysed, a 14-person exploratory internal pilot and seven signed non-binding Letters of Intent from the project’s earlier development phase. These are treated as early validation signals rather than evidence of current product-market fit or behavioural efficacy.
Zopanta is also collaborating with researchers from the University of Cyprus Department of Psychology on behavioural research and study design. The current research direction is focused on comparing digital-only interruption with device-assisted intervention and evaluating whether the physical component creates additional behavioural value over time.
Our initial target market is working adults approximately 25–40 who recognise doomscrolling as a problem and have already tried screen-time limits, blockers or similar tools but still return to the behaviour.
Our B2C business model combines a paid mobile app subscription with an optional connected physical device.
At MEET in Italy for Life Sciences, we are particularly interested in connecting with universities, research organisations, behavioural scientists, digital health and wellbeing experts, human-computer interaction researchers, technology companies, innovation clusters and potential partners interested in pilot projects, behavioural validation, connected devices and European research collaboration.
Our long-term ambition is to build Zopanta into an evidence-informed digital wellbeing platform that helps people move from automatic digital behaviour toward more conscious and intentional use of technology.
