Biomaterials

The Biomaterials area combines materials science, biology and sensor technology to develop safer, more accurate and personalised diagnostic and therapeutic devices. Expertise includes advanced biomaterials and decellularised tissues, hydrogels, bio-inks, membranes and 3D structures; cell, drug and exosome carriers; optical and electrochemical biosensors, printed microfluidics and point-of-care systems, transdermal patches and ingestible devices. The offering is complemented by physico-chemical and biological characterisation and biocompatibility studies in accordance with ISO 10993. The value for the customer lies in an integrated process, from the formulation of the material or sensor through to the functional and pre-clinical validation of the medical device.
