MBSE in Space Domain with MagicGrid and SysML v2

Location:EPSILON hallTrack:Day 2 - Track 4
  • SysML v2
  • MagicGrid Framework
  • Space domain

SysML v2, the next-generation systems modeling language, introduces significant improvements over SysML v1, including a more formal semantic foundation, enhanced expressiveness, and modernized syntax. However, its increased flexibility also presents new challenges for modelers—particularly around consistency, interpretability, and methodological discipline.

As with SysML v1, the effective application of SysML v2 benefits greatly from being guided by a structured modeling methodology. The MagicGrid framework, widely used with SysML v1 across various industries, has been reworked and updated to align with the capabilities and structure of SysML v2.

This tutorial introduces the core concepts of MagicGrid and demonstrates how it can guide the development of high-quality system architecture models using SysML v2. Through a practical example from the space domain, the tutorial walks through a complete modeling workflow, illustrating how MagicGrid ensures coherence across levels of abstraction and supports traceability.

Attendees will gain insights into both the theoretical foundations and practical application of MagicGrid with SysML v2.
