Workshop: the ESA MBSE Methodology in SysML v2
SysML v2 brings new opportunities and challenges to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Some of the major changes introduced include the textual notation, a redefined use of definitions and usages, and a common API. These changes mark a significant shift from previous practices and open the door to new modeling capabilities and integrations.
The first pilot implementation of the ESA MBSE Methodology in SysML v2 was released in August 2024, and has been evolving since then. This pilot serves as a reference implementation for testing, pending the emergence of a more mature SysML v2 ecosystem.
This collaborative workshop aims to explore key questions regarding the ESA MBSE Methodology implemented in SysML v2:
-
Will SysML v2 enable a fully tool-independent implementation, or will tool-specific customizations be unavoidable?
-
What is the best use of definitions and usages, given the new SysML v2 flexibility?
-
How can we transition from the SysML v1 to the SysML v2 implementation?
-
What will be the most useful use cases of the new textual notation?
-
What is the roadmap for a final release of the ESA MBSE Methodology in SysML v2?
