Return of experience on MBSE adoption in space projects: challenges and solutions
- MBSE
- projects
The workshop consists of two back-to-back sessions of 1.5 hour each, with the objective to prepare the implementation of MBSE in new projects and to maximize the chance of a high ROI. The session will include coffee-break from 10h30 to 11h00.
A short on-line questionnaire will be made available to everyone attending in person or virtually prior to the session.
Part 1 of the session (before the coffee break) will be dedicated to the identification of the problem areas and difficulties to introduce MBSE and to maintain MBSE through the project life cycle. ESA will introduce the MBSE status in projects and provide a few examples of problems identified and presents the outcomes of the questionnaire. Following this introduction, the attendance will brainstorm, in small groups, on different “source” or problem “location”, on different domain where problems occur or phase of the life cycle. Back to a more plenary organization, the spokesperson of each group will report to the audience on the refined problems/difficulties debated in his/her group. Please note that for Part 1, the group work (about half an hour) may not be possible to follow remotely.
Part 2 of the session (after the the coffee break), will be focused on solutions. After a short introduction by ESA of candidate solutions and example of success stories, the audience will be invited, in a Town Hall setting, to propose and develop solutions answering the main problem areas and difficulties identified in Part 1. The session will finish with a wrap-up with the intent to sketch a roadmap and/or summary of future activities to improve the use of MBSE in projects.
This workshop will also provide input to the afternoon World Café session.
