Bondalti Water is positioned to propose, co-develop and demonstrate new technologies that implement the Water Resilience Strategy objectives: restoring the water cycle, enabling a water-smart economy, and ensuring clean and affordable water.
In my view, this open topic is particularly well-suited to consortia that combine novel technology development with credible demonstration/validation and an uptake pathway—exactly where we can contribute strongly.

What we can contribute (technology + implementation)

• Advanced treatment trains for reuse and circular water (including potable where appropriate): design and optimisation of cost-adequate treatment barriers and polishing steps, including handling of challenging pollutants and variable loads, enabling upscaling of reuse/recycling solutions.

• Monitoring strategy (“what to control, remove, transform”): risk-based selection of key parameters and operational triggers, combining online sensing, lab confirmation and effect-based approaches where relevant, aligned with improved hydrological/ecological monitoring ambitions.

• Digital tools (AI / digital twins) to manage pollutant and hydraulic loads: forecasting and decision-support for drought/flood preparedness, load peaks, system constraints, and intervention prioritisation; interoperable data pipelines and operational dashboards.

• Water efficiency “first” solutions for sectors: methodologies, indicators and practical technology packages for water efficiency improvements across water-using sectors (e.g., agriculture/industry), supporting the “water efficiency first” direction in scope.

• Demonstration/validation and uptake plan: engineering for pilots/demos, commissioning, O&M protocols, performance verification (KPIs), and replication packages for post-project uptake at local/national/EU level.

Example “innovation packages” we can help lead (for an open-topic proposal)

1. Reuse-to-resilience package: advanced reuse (and, where justified, indirect potable concepts) + MRV + optimisation to reduce water stress.

2. Early-warning & preparedness package: high-frequency monitoring + AI event detection + operational playbooks for drought/flood risks.

3. Water-smart economy package: water-efficiency indicators + digital auditing/benchmarking + sector deployment pathway (pricing/certification concepts led by relevant partners).
