Innovation Manager at Bondalti Water

About

Bondalti Water can act as an industrial end-user / demonstrator / integrator for integrated CO₂ capture–purification–utilisation schemes, with an emphasis on (i) energy minimisation, (ii) heat and infrastructure integration, and (iii) robust operation under impurities and variable loads, typical of water and wastewater assets and associated industrial utilities. T

What we can contribute (work packages / tasks)

  • Industrial use cases & requirements: definition of realistic operating envelopes (CO₂ source composition, impurities, intermittency), performance KPIs (specific energy, availability, maintenance), and integration constraints for industrial deployment.

  • CO₂ source access & field validation: provision of representative industrial CO₂ streams relevant to process/water sectors (e.g., biogas upgrading vents, CHP/boiler flue gases, process off-gases), enabling validation beyond laboratory conditions.

  • Capture/purification integration in water-intensive plants: engineering of interfaces where water/steam, cooling, brines and wash streams strongly influence capture performance (e.g., solvent management, membrane conditioning, condensate handling, impurity removal, wastewater impacts).

  • Energy and heat integration: identification and utilisation of available heat sources and existing infrastructures to reduce OPEX and improve overall process efficiency, consistent with the topic’s scope.

  • Digitalisation, modelling and “open-loop” validation: development of accurate models and simulation-based validation, run in parallel with real plant operations, as recommended by the topic (including open-loop computations and model-based benefit validation).

  • LCA/TEA-ready operational data: contribution of measured operational datasets (energy, water, chemicals, downtime, waste generation) to support the required lifecycle and economic assessments and business case/exploitation plan.

  • Pilot / lab-scale demonstration support: support the required laboratory/pilot-scale showcase through integration engineering, commissioning, monitoring plans, and O&M protocols.

Assets

  • Strong competence in process integration in harsh aqueous environments (fouling, variable loads, high salinity/organics), online monitoring, and operational optimisation.

  • Innovation capacity in data pipelines, advanced analytics and hybrid modelling to quantify performance, detect drift, and validate benefits.

Partners sought

We seek consortia with CCU technology developers covering the full chain, notably:

  • Capture/purification technology providers (solvents/sorbents/membranes, modular systems, impurity management).

  • CO₂ utilisation/conversion route owners focused on competitive non-fuel products (e.g., mineralisation/carbonates, specialty intermediates/materials) and associated separations.

  • Energy integration & power electronics/controls partners for renewable electricity coupling and flexible operation.

  • LCA/TEA partners and (ideally) off-takers for the targeted CO₂-derived products.
