Expertise in Plant Disease Resistance Screening and Cereal Pathology

Head of Department at Field Crops Central Research Institute

Ankara, Türkiye

About

I am the Head of the Disease and Pest Resistance Unit in the Breeding and Genetics Department of the Central Research Institute for Field Crops, Türkiye. I am a plant pathologist working on economically important fungal diseases of major field crops, particularly cereals, pulses, and medicinal and aromatic plants.

Our unit focuses on screening breeding materials for disease resistance under field, greenhouse, and controlled conditions. We work closely with wheat, barley, chickpea, cumin, and other crop breeding programs to support the development of resistant, productive, and regionally adapted crop varieties.

Our main expertise includes wheat rust diseases, especially yellow rust/stripe rust, Septoria leaf blotch in wheat, barley leaf spot diseases, barley stripe disease, Fusarium root rot and Ascochyta blight in chickpea, and Fusarium wilt and Alternaria blight in cumin.

We are open to collaboration with researchers, universities, research institutes, breeding programs, and international projects interested in plant disease resistance, pathogen monitoring, disease screening methodologies, resistant germplasm development, and crop resilience.

Potential collaboration areas include MSCA Staff Exchanges, Horizon Europe proposals, joint research projects, training activities, germplasm screening, pathogen population monitoring, and scientific exchange in the field of plant pathology and disease resistance breeding.
