About
IBIMA is a multidisciplinary research institute in biomedicine and nanomedicine, centred around the Regional and Virgen de la Victoria University Hospitals in Málaga, in collaboration with Primary Care, the biotechnological research groups of the University of Málaga, and the Andalusian Centre for Nanomedicine and Biotechnology (BIONAND).
Its main objective is to promote excellence in research, with a strong focus on translational science, ensuring that results can be effectively transferred to clinical practice, biotechnology, and other real-world applications.
IBIMA fosters the development of a multidisciplinary research environment in biomedicine and nanomedicine, contributing to the scientific foundation of National Health System programmes and policies, particularly in biomolecular, clinical, epidemiological, and technological translational research.
The institute’s work facilitates the transfer of scientific advances in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the most prevalent health conditions at regional, national, and international levels.
IBIMA integrates more than 70 research groups from the University of Málaga and the Andalusian Public Health System, working across multiple affiliated healthcare centres.
