About
Eurecat can offer its patented technology of 100% natural origin vitrimeric resin for composite materials which can be recovered for reuse in the industry value chain in the construction sector. The technology has been jointly developed by the CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY and POLYMERS PROCESSING research units of Eurecat. This can be applied as an innnoative low carbon embodied sustainable material for building elements under the CL5-2026-02-D4-05 topic.
Vitrimeric materials gather the mechanical performance of thermosetting materials and the malleability of thermoplastics. Vitrimer-based composite materials possess different functionalities which can be used to improve adaptability of building units to new uses.
Application in pultruded, compression molded or thermoformed profiles that can be easily taken apart facilitating the retrieval of the embedded metal components and reinforcements at the end of life.
They following characteristics make them attractive for use in building components and urban elements from a low environment impact and circularity.
-
Self-healing and reshaping properties that allow their easy reparation and reshaping with heat and pressure.
-
Bonding / debonding capabilities to facilitate recovery of construction parts
-
Recycling methodology of the vitrimeric composite allowing for easy raw material recovery increasing circular economy
