About

We are looking to establish a project cooperation with an industrial company in the manufacturing, asset-intensive or logistics domain, interested in innovating and digitizing its physical systems through the implementation of Digital Twins.
Our research group specializes in the design and development of intelligent cyber-physical systems that leverage data-driven models to support decision-making and actuation, with high-fidelity Digital Twin solutions as a key enabling technology  that enable real-time synchronization between physical assets and their digital counterparts. By integrating data from sensors, machines, and enterprise systems, we can create intelligent, dynamic models that support decision-making, optimize operations, and reduce downtime.

Objectives of the Cooperation:

  • Analyze and interpret the partner’s context to identify key challenges and opportunities, enabling data-driven interaction through IoT/IIoT technologies and guiding the subsequent phases of the project.

  • Identify and valorize hidden or underutilized data sources (dark data) to unlock new insights and drive strategic improvements in production performance.

  • Co-design and implement a Digital Twin model tailored to the partner’s production process or equipment.

  • Connect the Digital Twin with real-time data streams (e.g., MQTT, PLCs, MES, SCADA) from physical assets to enable monitoring, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance and with digital services for a seamless integration.

  • Explore the integration of AI algorithms for anomaly detection, quality control, and process optimization.

  • Develop dashboards or control interfaces to visualize production data and KPIs in real-time integrated with existing infrastructure and software platform (e.g., Microsoft Azure, SAP, Google Cloud and Amazon AWS)

  • Evaluate the impact of the Digital Twin on performance indicators such as efficiency, flexibility, and energy consumption.

What We Offer:

  • Deep expertise in cyber-physical systems, distributed intelligence, and IoT/IIoT technologies for smart industrial environments.

  • Expertise in Digital Twin architectures, simulation, and integration with industrial data systems.

  • Proven experience in applying AI and data analytics to industrial contexts.

  • Collaboration within funded research projects (e.g., Horizon Europe, national grants) or direct bilateral cooperation.

  • A multidisciplinary approach combining industrial engineering, computer science, and manufacturing expertise.

Ideal Partner:

  • An industrial company (discrete or process industry) in the manufacturing, asset-intensive or logistics area, interested in digitizing its physical assets to extract valuable insights and drive process optimization.

  • Willingness to provide access to production data, process knowledge, and possibly a pilot line or testbed.

  • Openness to collaborative experimentation and innovation.

We believe that the synergy between academic research and industrial know-how can unlock real value from from cyber-physical systems through Digital Twin technology and set the foundation for the smart factory of the future.
Let’s connect to explore how we can co-create your digital transformation roadmap.
