Doughnut Economics in Action: Rethinking Business Design
This session will address the core question: What would it mean to design businesses and investments to contribute to a regenerative economy rather than an extractive one? Doughnut Economics is a framework which calls for new economic thinking to enable humanity to thrive within planetary boundaries in the 21st century. It has principles that can be translated for business, and applied by the impact community to contribute to this transformation. This will be an interactive round table session diving deep into key questions, building on practical examples demonstrated by the companies represented in the panel: -) What principles would businesses operating within a regenerative economy / doughnut economy need to change/follow? -) What are the current challenges for existing impact financing models? -) How can capital be harnessed in ways that are not socially and environmentally extractive, and directed towards regenerative business model designs from the outset? -) What does the emerging approach of “post-growth entrepreneurship” mean and how could this work?
