eCon Engineering offers a full service in the durability assessment of composite products. As thermoplastic matrix continuous fiber reinforced composites become more widespread base material in load bearing structures especially in aerospace, durability assessment cannot be ignored. Econ's portfolio for this activity is as follows:

  • Comprehensive fatigue testing of plies in all in-plane relevant load directions (special testing fixtures and servo-hidraulic testing frame available in-house)

  • Raw data evaluation SN curve fit and parameter identification of eCon fatigue model

  • FEA-based analysis of the component from fatigue PoV with eCon fatigue model in the form of a FEA plug-in

  • optimization and redesign of part depending on predicted fatigue response.

The automated fatigue tool is geometry independent since the input stress state come from the FEA of the part. It can include mean stress correction, size effect, calculation for predefined survival probability and also accounts for spatial stress redistribution due to material long-term degradation
