NSW’s PdM system for critical infrastructure combines acoustic/ultrasonic sensors, nEdge edge computing, AI/ML models and the nGuard portal. It provides 24/7 monitoring of transformers, hydro turbines, PV inverters and other energy assets. By listening for early acoustic signatures—such as partial discharge—it captures the “Golden Window” before major failure, supports precise localization and targeted repair, and remains reliable in electrical environments because it analyzes sound rather than grid signals. The data feeds alerts, maintenance planning, and digital twins for safer planned work.
