NEMI Mobility Solutions is a Spanish SME founded in 2020 out of the Horizon 2020 Galileo for Mobility project, a European Commission and EUSPA initiative that ran from 2017 to 2020 to apply Galileo satellite technology to urban mobility services. Today, with 22 people and operations in Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Italy, NEMI is the leading DRT platform provider in Spain, running more than 60 services and 250 bus and taxi routes.
Demand-Responsive Transport is a flexible model that adjusts routes and schedules to real demand: passengers book via app or chatbot, and the system calculates the most efficient route across all active requests. The result is a public transport service that bends to its users rather than forcing them to bend to fixed timetables — improving the passenger experience, cutting operational costs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
NEMI's platform connects every actor in the service chain. Passengers book through a mobile app or text chatbot. Drivers receive optimised routes and real-time instructions through a dedicated Driver App. Operators and local authorities manage services, monitor real-time data and adjust routes through a Back Office. Underpinning all of it is an AI optimisation algorithm that calculates the most efficient route given current demand, combined with Galileo GNSS geolocation for precise real-time vehicle tracking.
Beyond operations, NEMI offers an advanced simulation and planning tool that lets operators and administrations model scenarios, anticipate demand and make data-driven decisions before deploying or restructuring services. This makes NEMI not just a platform for running DRT, but a decision-support environment for designing it.
The company's focus is connectivity: expanding access to essential services for people in rural and peri-urban areas where conventional fixed-route transport is uneconomical, and doing so through a technology stack built and proven in live European deployments.
