CRYOSHELL – Demountable composite vacuum enclosure for mobile LH2 storage
CEO at design tech centre
France
About
Liquid hydrogen tanks and cryogenic valve boxes rely on vacuum jackets that are welded or bonded for life: any inspection or repair inside means cutting the jacket, long downtime, and often scrapping the whole unit.
Design Tech Centre (DTC), a French SME specialised in aerospace-grade composite structures, is developing CRYOSHELL, a lightweight carbon-composite vacuum enclosure that can be opened and closed again while keeping high-vacuum performance. It is designed as a stand-alone component that hosts an LH2 vessel or cryogenic valves, with embedded vacuum monitoring, for air, road, rail, river and maritime applications.
CRYOSHELL builds on DTC's patented composite technology. A first full-size vacuum enclosure prototype has already been validated under high vacuum on an industrial test bench.
We are looking for:
-
LH2 tank makers and cryogenic equipment integrators to co-develop a first application
-
End users (vessels, aircraft ground equipment, gensets, refuelling stations) facing maintenance constraints on vacuum-insulated equipment
-
Cryogenic test facilities
