Advanced Catalyst-to-Electrode Manufacturing for PEM Fuel Cells
Project coordinator at ReCatalyst
Slovenia
About
We aim to contribute to the development and validation of an advanced catalyst-to-electrode manufacturing approach for more cost-effective and durable PEM fuel cells for hydrogen mobility. ReCatalyst offers PGM-efficient Pt-based catalyst technology designed to improve precious-metal utilisation within fuel-cell electrodes.
Our catalyst technology aims to reduce platinum demand while supporting high electrode performance and durability. The materials can be integrated with advanced catalyst-ink formulation and coating processes, including spray- and inkjet-based approaches, enabling optimisation across the catalyst-to-electrode manufacturing chain.
The technology is particularly relevant for demanding, high-utilisation mobility applications such as heavy-duty transport and aviation, where fuel-cell lifetime, efficiency and cost remain key barriers to wider deployment. Building on technology already validated at pilot level, ReCatalyst aims to support scalable European manufacturing of lower-cost, longer-lasting and more resource-efficient fuel-cell components.
